I've just realised that I haven't written a blog for almost two months. This is one of the longest gaps since I started many years ago. I've been busy researching and writing The Great Takeover - my book in the Postcards from Scotland series we are doing with Argyll Publishing. It will come out in the autumn. Anyway, the blog simply wasn't at the forefront of my mind.

During the summer I have had a good few occasions to try out some of my ideas and arguments.  I spoke at the SOLAS festival in Wiston, near Biggar at the end of June; the Big Tent at Falkland in July; the Festival of Spirtuality in August; and I spoke at two events at the Edinburgh book festival on Sunday. I am pretty convinced from all these discussions that there is a real appetite for some radical thinking and I hope that my book and others in the series will provide this.

I'm now taking two weeks off and will start get backing into proper Centre mode in September and that includes blogs.
