Encouraging responsibility

There are two particular strategies which we think are worth highlighting here. One is called the Responsibility Pie Chart and you can access this by using the link in the panel to the right.

The other action we urge parents to think about is giving their children more responsibility for aspects of their lives which most affect them - particularly how they keep their bedroom and their laundry.

In 2006 our Chief Executive Carol Craig wrote a blog on the topic and she has received some very positive feedback on it from mothers. Remember that schools are now reporting that when they take children or young people away on trips they seem to be able to do fewer things for themselves. For example, they often don't know how to put on duvet covers or pillow cases.
