Doing good deeds builds self-control

Recent research from Harvard University shows that doing good deeds can help people to endure difficulties and persevere for longer on tasks.

The study found that when people performed a good deed, giving to charity, they coped better with longer periods of phyiscal activity; they held a weight for up to 10 seconds longer than those who had not given to charity.

The researchers say that the findings challenge a commonly held notion that people are born either good or bad, and supports the idea that moral behaviour can be cultivated.  More here
