The Centre is very interested in the attachment/early engagement agenda as we think this is a better route to improving child well-being than some of the later, school-based initiatives which we think are not only time-consuming but counterproductive. One of the main people in Scotland undertaking research on early engagement is Alan Sinclair, formerly Head of Skills for Scottish Enterprise and currently working for The Work Foundation. Alan operates from the Centre?s office in Glasgow and so we have a close working relationship with him. In 2007 Alan wrote an in-depth paper called 0-5: How small children make a big difference.
