Foundations for Flourishing - youth

Foundations of Flourishing was the name the Centre gave to a two day event held at the Hub, Edinburgh in March 2008. The first day was on childhood; the second day on adolescence. The overarching theme for the second day was how we create responsible and productive youths.

In this section of the website we include information on each of the speakers and a flavour of their presentations. The feedback from this event was resoundingly positive. People found it stimulating, challenging and thought-provoking. They were very taken by the calibre of the speakers and how the overwhelming message was very different from lots of the other work currently around about young people.

David Cameron, Director of Children's Services at Stirling Council and Vice President, Association of Directors of Education in Scotland chaired the conference.

Below is a list of what's available in this section.

Dr Robert Epstein: The Case Against Adolescence

Dr Alex Richardson: They Are What We Feed Them

Alan McLean: Letting go of the reins

Alison Mitchell: From shy teenagers to global citizens

Sandy Campbell: Working Rite
